Central Board of Secondary Education is an autonomous organization under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource Development established in the year 1929 at Ajmer. It was shifted to Delhi in 1962 and is one of the leading national Boards in the country.

The Board has six regional offices at Ajmer, Chennai, Allahabad, Delhi, Guwahati and Panchkula.

CBSE conducts the annual public examinations in class X and XII. It holds the All India Pre – Medical Test (AIPMT) and All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). The entrance examination for admission in classes VI and IX in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas is also conducted by the Board.
