•  Field Trip to Tungareshwar

Field trip to Tungareshwar was conducted on 2nd August 2008 which was the first day of the holy month of Shravan. This field trip was organised for the students of Grades VI to VIII .We started from school at 7:30am and reached Tungareshwar at 9.15 am. After alighting from the bus, our Principal narrated us a brief history of Tungareshwar. Then we started our journey towards the Tungareshwar temple through rivers and a thick forest. Children enjoyed seeing monkeys and wading through the river water. After one and a half hour we reached the Tungareshwar temple. Children went to worship and then enjoyed bathing in the river. It was a trip arranged for children to inculcate in them an appreciation and affinity towards nature and environment which are indispensable parts of human life. Journalists of the newspaper ‘Mid-day’ were thrilled to see the enthusiasm of our students and clicked photographs to publish in their newspaper. It was a memorable event!


•  The Independence Day

The Independence Day was celebrated obviously on 15th of Aug. Our guests for the day were Hon. Founder Trustees, Shri Chimanbhai Mehta and Mr. Parvesh Mehta. Students of Grades VI, VII and VIII were present on this occasion. To begin with, the Mehta clan was welcomed by Dr.Mathew Seneior (Principal) and Mr.Ramesh Nair (Manager). They were also given an official salutation by the house captains and vice captains. Our national flag was hoisted and while the tri coloured flag flurried in the blue skies the national anthem was sung. The choir sang the ‘Flag song’ which filled every Indian present on the premises with pride for their country. The programme there after was a grand celebration of our freedom with every dance or song constantly reminding us of the sacrifice of each freedom fighter and the joy of independence after 1947. Teachers dressed in flag colours looked radiant. Our much generous management offered Ladoos at hometime. Thus history was recreated by our little tots, the future of India.


•  Janmastami Celebration

Our school celebrated Jan Mashtami 21st Aug2008. The programme was organized by us. A Special Assembly was organised by the students of Grade V. A. Students of Primary section were dressed up as Lord Krishna and Radha. A very informative Speech was given by Ms. Priyada. As the Students of Grade V to VIII began forming the human pyramid, the whole crowd grew silent. Everyone was filled with a sense of excitement as they watched the little masters form such a beautiful pyramid effortlessly. Finally when the topmost ‘Govinda' broke the Dahi Handi, applause and screams were heard all around. Our Music teacher played a melodious music to entertain us. Grade V. A presented a small skit on Lord Krishna’s birth. Lastly our beloved Principal narrated a story related to Lord Krishna.  Teachers and children enjoyed the whole programme and also got a lot of information regarding Lord Krishna.

Lord Krishna gave the message “Render service regardless of its fruits”


•  Teachers’ Day Celebration

With great enthusiasm, the MMIS family celebrated the ‘Teachers’ Day’ on 5th Sept. It was completely a student oriented programme. Students from Grade VIII played the role of teachers and took care of the younger ones and the school for nearly two hours. They also arranged a short cultural programme for teachers, and they shared their own experiences that they got as teachers on that day. This helped them to understand ‘how important the role of teacher is! ‘and also ‘how challenging the job is!’


•  Art & Craft Activities

Art brings out the creative mind of the students on the canvas. There were a number of competitions in which the students of MMIS participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.128 students of MMIS participated in the Inter School Drawing Competition organized by “ Shivoham Infotech (Tare Kagaj Per)’’ on 8th September 2008. All the participants were awarded with the participation certificate. 14 students appeared for the Maharashtra State Government’s the “Elementary & Intermediate” competitive Drawing Grade Exam on 23rd Sept. 2008. We got 100% results in the Exam. Akshay Raul and Dinika Soni from Grade VII secured the 1st and 2nd   positions respectively. 20 students participated in the Inter School Art Competition organised by ‘Don Bosco High School, Naigaon (E)’ on 13th Nov. 2008. All the participants were awarded with the participation certificate and a trophy.

All India Painting Colour Contest was conducted by ‘Creative Art Academy’ (New Delhi) for which 68 students from the Primary and36 students from the Secondary participated. 40 students participated in the Inter School Drawing Competition organised by “Virar”  Panchayat Samiti held at Viva College on 7th Dec. 2008. 35 Students to part in the on the spot drawing Competition in the “Vasai Taluka Kala-Krida Mahotsav” held on on 27th Dec.2008. 30 students participated in the State Level ‘On the spot Drawing competition organized by “Sakal News Paper” held at Utkarsh Vidyalaya at Virar on 21st Dec. 2008.  Shriyas Singh from Grade II won the third Prize. i.e. a certificate and a cash prize and Varsha Joshi from Grade IV won a consolation prize.20 students of MMIS participated in the “Inter School New Year Greeting Card Competition” organized by “Shivoham Infotech” on 30th Jan09. The results for the same are awaited. MMIS is proud to have winners and gold medalists in just two years of incorporation. It was also a great learning experience for the students and they were motivated to perform better the next time.


•  English Debate

An inter- house English debate competition for Grades VI, VII and VIII was held on 9th Sept. 2008. Grade wise different topics were debated eloquently by the participants and came up with interesting conclusions.

They participated enthusiastically and with an impeccable team- spirit. The participants were judged on various parameters and stood true to their ‘never say die’ spirit. The manner in which they debated and the quality of the debate reflected their knowledge of current affairs. For Grades VI, VII and VIII- the Red House, the Blue House and the Yellow House emerged as winners respectively.


•  Founder’s Day Celebration

The only place which brings pride to every person related to it, in whichever way, is MMIS.BY now; MMIS has become a synonym for prestige and has taken the level of education to a greater height. The person who has gifted us with this remarkable institution is none other than our beloved Founder Trustee Shree Chimanbhai Muljibhai Mehta.

His birthday falls on 23rd of Sept. which was celebrated on 26th Sept by us. A very short and sweet cultural programme was held for the same. He was honoured with flower bouquet and warm wishes by the staff and students of MMIS. Students from MMIS dressed in traditional costumes giving birthday wishers to the Founder Trustee in their regional dialects was appreciated and attracted by all. Launching of news letter ‘THE VISION’ was held on this occasion. The day was made more colorful by the cultural committee and finally by the speech of Hon. Principal Dr.Mathew Seneior.


•  Rangoli Competition

On 25thSept.2008 a ‘Rangoli competition was conducted for the students of grades IV to VIII. Semifinal round of the same was held on different dates for different grades and 31 participants were selected for the final round. For the final, Sukanya Satardekar of Grade V C;  Nidhi Barot of Grade V B;  Shamika Jogle from Grade IV C  secured 1st , 2nd , & 3rd positions respectively fro from group one.

From Group two, Ms. Divyadarshini R from Grade VIII B; Master Dhruvaa Mhatre from Grade VI B; Ms.Dinika Soni from grade VII A had secured 1st , 2nd ,3rd  positions respectively. Winners were awarded with the ‘certificate of merit’ by our respected Principal, Dr. Mathew Seneior. Purpose of the competition was to encourage the students to show their creativity and spontaneity with Rangoli and Colours.


•  Dussehra Celebration

Dusshera Celebration was held on 8th Oct.2008. It was organised by the cultural committee.  Teachers gave speeches on this occasion highlighting the importance of Dusshera. Rama and Ravana had a fight with each other. After a continuous battle between them, Ravana was defeated by Rama on the tenth day. This victory is known as Victory of Good over Evil which we celebrate as Dusshera or VijayaDashami.

Graceful occasion of festivity was brought by our music mater by playing tabala. Lastly, our respected Principal gave the speech and also narrated a story related to Dusshera and gave us a lot of valuable information regarding the same. Not only did the teachers & children enjoy the whole programme but also got valuable information about Dusshera.


•  National Sports Day

The aim of ‘Physical Education’ is the wholesome development of the human body. I other words, it is for the creation of a sound mind in a sound body. It is also for the ‘Realisation of Self’. According to J.B. Nash, “Physical Education is an integral part of education which deals with muscles” activity and their related responses. Physical Education is a movement education which enables the children’s wholesome development which includes mental, physical, social, moral and spiritual well being of the citizens. Keeping all these aspects in mind, the ‘National Sports Day’ is celebrated every year by the government of India. Healthy & Fit people fit nation. Development of healthy pupils lead to a healthy school, healthy schools lead to healthy citizens and  healthy citizens lead to healthy nation. According to this hierarchy, Muljibhai Mehta International School celebrated the National Sports Day on 29th Oct. 2008.The inauguration ceremony was conducted by the principal 10.30 a.m. followed by a group event competition of Tug-Of-War. The overall championship was won by Blue House; the Runner up shield was won by the Yellow House. On behalf of the Sports Department, I sincerely thank the Principal, the staff and the Management for their valuable support.


•  Annual Sports Day Celebrations 2008-2009

Muljibhaibhai Mehta International School’s Annual Athletic Meet-2008 was held on 8th Nov. at the Gokul Township public ground. The Meet was inaugurated by the Dr. Mathew Seneior , the Hon. Principal of the school. It was followed by the oath taking ceremony of the House leaders for fair dealing. Students from different grades participated in the track and field events. The Blue House which secured more points was declared as first. Second position was secured by the Yellow House. Certificate and medals were distributed to the winners later. Hard work, team sprit and sportsmanship of the participants of the Blue House brought them memorable victory.


•  School Science Exhibition

Students of MMIS enthusiastically participated in their first Science Exhibition on 14th Nov. 2008.   The projects of the Primary section were displayed in Physics Lab and of the secondary section in the respective classrooms. These beautiful projects were judged by Sir Vijayan & Ms Snehalata for the ‘Primary Section’ and Ms Baleja & Ms Vidya for the ‘Secondary Section. ‘Students were much interested and enthused at answering the questions asked by the judges. From each section 3 prizes were announced. Overall it was a great success and a new experience for the students of MMIS .This Science Exhibition couldn’t have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the Science Department of MMIS and wholehearted co-operation of our beloved Principal, Dr. Mathew Seneior.


•  Children’s Day

Children’s Day was celebrated in the School with great joy and enthusiasm. All children came dressed in colourful clothes. The children were looked like angels. Teachers conducted the assembly on that day and they put up different programmes for the children. Sir Joseph gave an inspiring speech; Ms. Sharon Sang a beautiful prayer song, Ms. Salji cracked some jokes and a beautiful dance by Ms. Shobhana. At last our beloved Principal, Dr Mathew Seneior gave very touching speech. After the speech sweets were distributed to the children.  Ms. Merle and Ms. Sweedal arranged some games like housie and Bombing in the city. Children enjoyed a lot on that day. After the games music was played and all the teachers and children danced together. It was a memorable day in MMIS!


•  Patriotic Song Competition

A patriotic song competition was held on 12th Dec.2008 at “Bhau Saheb Vartak Hall”, Virar on the occasion of Virar Kala Krida Mahotsav. Almost all the school of Virar participated in the competition. Seven students under the age of 12 from MMIS participated in it under the guidance of music master Utpal Dutta. It was a valuable experience for our students. They performed it brilliantly and earned high appreciation.


•  Science Orientation Seminar

A one day workshop on science was conducted on 13th Dec.2008 by Ms. Vaishali Gupta for Oxford University Press in the premises of Mljibhai Mehta International school. All the teachers of MMIS. and teachers from other Schools as well participated in this workshop with great energy and enthusiasm. In was an interesting workshop divided in different parts. Various scientific topics were discussed with new innovative methods. Observation is one of the important aspects of teaching-learning process. Involvement of the learning process is equally important. Ms. Vaishali Gupta’s dynamic personality, clarity of speech and activity- oriented methods made the teachers energetic with new concepts and presentation. The teachers were full of energy and enthusiasm till the workshop got over and she has greatly succeeded in conveying the innovative and practical aspects of present day teaching. Overall the workshop was very motivating and aimed at developing scientific attitude among the students and teachers. At the end of the workshop, a ‘Certificate of Merit’ (Oxford University Press) was given to all the teachers by our beloved principal, Dr. Mathew Seneior.


•  Christmas Celebration

We celebrated Christmas on 20th Dec. 2008. The environment of the school campus was quiet and soothing. Gorgeous decorations adorned the school campus. The students also gave the whole show a lovely look with their party dresses on. There were speeches delivered by teachers and principal emphasizing the values of Christianity. Stress was also given on the value of forgiveness and purpose of the birth of Jesus Christ i.e. the salvation of mankind. There were many cultural programmes .The students enacted a skit efficiently which was based on the Birth of Jesus Christ. A Goodwill message and blessings were given by our Hon. Principal Dr. Mathew Seneior and Hon. Manager Mr. Rajesh Nair. On this auspicious occasion, MMIS celebrated our Manager, Sir. Ramesh Nair’s birthday followed by dancing and exchanging of sweets. We wished one another a Merry Christmas & a Prosperous New Year.!!!


•  Vasai Kala Krida Mahotsav

The students of Muljibhai Mehta International School have participated in Vasai Kala Krida which was organized in Vasai taluka from 25th to 31st Dec. 2008. Many competitions such as Story telling, Handwriting, Essay writing, Dance, Fancy dress, Mono acting Elocution, Athletics, Chess competition etc. were held. Though it was the Christmas vacation students of MMIS willingly took part in these activities with the support of parents and teachers.

Overall 160 students from different grades participated from MMIS. The students were very much excited and enjoyed the various competitions and rendered a wonderful performance. Anushka Rane Grade V and Kirti Bhoite from Grade III secured Gold medals for Long Jump & 50m. run respectively. Kirti Bhoite secured Silver medal in Langadi too. Smith Gonsalves and Prachit Kamath from Grade IV basked Bronze medals for LongJump and 75m. run respectively. It was a great even where the children got an opportunity to show their talent and calibrate.


•  Virar Kala Krida Mahotsav

Virar Nagrparishad Kala-Krida Mahotsav was held on 26th to 29th Dec. 2008. Many Schools all over Virar participated in this festival for various literary & sports competitions. They were conducted on different days at different venues.180 students were selected from MMIS to participate in it. They exhibited their strength & stamina in different events. Kirti Bhoite from grade III won Gold medal for 50m. run & Shika Singh from grade II secured Silver medal for the same. Prachit Kamath from grade IV secured Silver medal for 75m. run.

All the participants were enthusiastic and gave their best performance in all the events. It was indeed a great experience for the students of MMIS to exhibit their innate talents and potentiality.

•  Inter house Quiz Competition

An inter house Quiz competition was organized by the science department on 13th Jan. 2009 in the school portico. Students from grades 6 to 8 participated in it. Children’s knowledge of Science, History, Geography, Mathematics, current affair, sports and entertainment were tested through 5 rounds. It was conducted systematically like a live TV programme. Competition was won by the Blue house followed by the Red house. Audiences were engrossed deeply in the quiz competition. Eventually it was a great success!


•  Annual Day Celebration

MMIS celebrated its Second Annual Day on 17th Jan. 2009. The programme was held on our school ground. While every performance supported the theme ‘Harmony’, it was also very equally entertaining. The little ones from the Pre-Primary section performed so well. Our students, ever energetic and enthusiastic as they always are managed to carry the MMIS spirit which emphasizes on equality, regardless of class, caste, religion or sex, quite gracefully. The invitees were Dr Pradhan, Ex-Registrar of University of Mumbai and Mr.Rajeev Patil, and other dignitaries. Our star performers in the last academic year were awarded trophies and certificates. The Principal, Dr Mathew Seneior read out the Annual Report highlighting the numerous events that took place during the year. The event was blessed abundantly with success from all directions and closed with happy faces leaving for their homes until we meet again next year!


•  Republic Day Celebrations -2009

India celebrated her 60th Republic day on 26th Jan. and we at MMIS too celebrated it with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The day began   with the flag hoisting by our Hon. Chairman Shri. Chimanbhai Mehta and was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the Flag song. Soon after that the scout and guide students conducted Parade and students of Grade V performed Lezim. Various cultural programmes were performed by the students of MMIS under the able guidance of the team members. The cultural programme began with the singing of the Patriotic song followed by the welcome dance and then a speech in English, Marathi and Hindi by the students. The skit based on ‘Drafting of the constitution’ was appreciated by all. Hon. Principal, Dr. Mathew Seneior addressed the audience on this occasion followed by vote of thanks.


•  A Visit of Spiritual Guru - Bhaishri

6th March was a golden day in the history of Muljibhai Mehta International School because on that auspicious day a great soul Parampujya Shree Bhaishri Rameshbhai Oza had arrived in our School. Bhaishri's very presence created spiritual atmosphere in & around Muljibhai Mehta International School. He advised our students to be good students in our Mother Land. He was warmly welcomed by our management, our Staff & Students. Our Principal Sir introduced him to our Staff & Students. Shri Bhaishri Rameshbhai Oza is a spiritual leader widely popular across the world for his discources & teachings. Parampujya Bhaishri has always been a supreme messenger of faith in onself, the almighty & the spiritual power. Bhaishri has carved a niche in the hearts of millions of his followers. Bhaishri ia a lover of knowledge.

Bhaishri Rameshbhai Oza is determined to make the Indian culture eternal & bring peace and happiness & a sence of responsibility in the lives of humans through knowledge, awakening & spirituality. thous he has been respected by all his followers. Bhaishri considers himself as a clergyman.

To spread the message of knowledge Bhaishri has set up the Sandipani Vidyaniketan in Porbandar, Gujarat, India. Sandipani Vidyaniketan is a school & institution for imparting knowledge & learning of the rich Indian heritage & culture. Bhaishri Has a melodious voice & thought provoking speech. His oration holds the interest of the listeners & leaves them enchanted. His discourses on the Holy Bhagwadgita & Ramayana are popular among his large followers all around the world.

Bhaishri visited every nook & corner of our Management. He has promised his second visit to our School very soon.


•  Achievements

Our beloved principal, Dr. Mathew Seneior received the prestigious RVSP on 13th March 2009 in Delhi.

Dr . Mathew Senior was present in Delhi to receive this great honour bestoved upon him!

Dr. G.V.G. Krishnamurthy, the Ex-Chief Election Commissioner of India, Dr. Bhisma Narayan Singh, the former Governor of Tamilnadu & Justice O. P. Verma, former Governer Of Punjab did the honours for Dr. Mathew Seneior. Among the other dignitaries were present Dr. Mahan Vir Tulli who was Event Manager & Dr. S.S. Bhakri who was the organiser of this great event! Dr. D.S.N. Babu & Dr. Voroshilov Enkhbold were two of the many luminous stars who graced this occasion.

Dr. Mathew Seneior was the only Principal from Maharashtra Who was chosen for this great honour & was hailed for his outstanding contribution in the field of education. 45 Principals from all over the India present for the same.

Congratulations to you Dr. Mathew Senior for this great achievements!!! MMIS is proud of you!!!
